This paper presents some of the results obtained during the two phases (II and III) of MEDALUS Project in Sardinia. The first part shows a synthetic analysis of the relationships between agropastoral activities and land degradation in Sardinia. In the analysis the chain of causes-effects is schematically presented accordingly to the DPSIR framework. In the second part, a methodology for land evaluation based on FAO (1976) approach and GIS techniques is presented and it aims to at model and prevent the impacts of agropastoral activities on land. The final part presents an example of application of the proposed methodology on a study area in central eastern Sardinia.
