Social impacts of modernization in Sardinia and its entry into globalization influence crime changes, which in recent decades lead to the development of a new context that requires innovative theoretical and methodological approaches. New operational needs in fighting crime, especially violent crime, emerge, because the use of violence still persists in the regional social context, although it appears to have different social, cultural and environmental causes. This paper aims to illustrate some preliminary results of an ongoing research project on the building of an integrated Information System for the production and management of spatial and crime data. The objective is to provide support to the definition of local policies. Specifically, this paper focuses on some indicators related to social capital and mobility. On the one hand, social capital represents an operational concept that several studies show as a prior condition of criminal phenomena. On the other hand, mobility is a crucial factor in the organization of urban systems and it is also relevant in relation to the study of the everyday practices of individuals. Through a regional mapping, significant issues related to the trend of the criminal phenomena will be identified.
