In the paper a finite element model to study creep and shrinkage effects in a timber-concrete composite beam with deformable shear connections is presented. The utilised algorithm is very general, it allows to adopt arbitrary viscous laws expressed in integral form for wood, concrete and shear connection, besides a generic history load. With a simple numerical example, the potentialities of the proposed formulation are shown. For its simplicity, the model can be easily implemented in a personal computer code.

Abstract

In the paper a finite element model to study creep and shrinkage effects in a timber-concrete composite beam with deformable shear connections is presented. The utilised algorithm is very general, it allows to adopt arbitrary viscous laws expressed in integral form for wood, concrete and shear connection, besides a generic history load. With a simple numerical example, the potentialities of the proposed formulation are shown. For its simplicity, the model can be easily implemented in a personal computer code.
