Plasma levels of thyroxine at lambing and during the lactation in sheep bred in Sardinia. The concentration of thyroxine in the peripheral plasma of 25 sheep (16 pregnant and 9 non-pregnant) has been determined by radioimmunoassay. The thyroxine level increased near lambing and decreased during lactation. The reduction was very marked in sheep giving birth to twin lambs. In non-pregnant, non-lactating sheep thr thyroxine plasma level did not vary.
