"Ultime sfide, nuovi dubbi. Willy Brandt dopo l'Ottantanove"

Facing the collapse of the GDR, Brandt took a position that appeared much more similar to Helmut Kohl's conservative government than his own party's, as he was promoting rapid and almost immediate unification. Though, it appears that this choice was dependant on specific expectastions about the evoluotion of the world order - which were disappointed very soon. During his last days, Brandt made some very critical and verybitter statements on that subject.

Di fronte al collasso della RDT Brandt prese una posizione apparentemente più simile a quella del governo conservatore di Kohl che a quella del suo stesso partito (cioè la SPD) nel sostenere l'immediata realizzazione dell'unità nazionale. Sembra tuttavia che questa scelta dipendesse da specifiche attese circa l'evoluzione dell'ordine mondiale che furono presto deluse. Nell'ultimo periodo della sua vita Brandt espresse giudizi molto critici e molto amari a questo proposito.
