Sardinia occupies a central position in the Mediterranean Sea, and therefore represents a perfect starting point to investigate the climate changes of the Pleistocene and Holocene. Recently, most attention has been dedicated to the understanding of what has occurred during the last Interglacial, MIS 5. In particular, scientists are assessing whether the present interglacial is similar to the MIS 5e climate optimum, or to the later MIS 5c substage. Moreover, are models defined in Central Europe for MIS 5 also applicable to the Mediterranean area? What has occurred in the past, and in particular in the recent past, can be used to forecast the future. It is undoubtedly recorded in sediments and we have only to find the correct tools to dig this information out.
