Il Trastevere in età romana

The paper is on the ancient planning of the Transtiberim area (the 14th Augustaean Regio): it suggests a wide picture on the knowledge and new reconstruction hypothesis. The aim is a contribution to the restitution of the wholly topographic imagine of an area which, perhaps, was less monumental than other, but certainly vital and transformed, characterized by strong persistence of the past in the actual road and building system.

L’attenzione del lavoro si incentra sull’impianto urbanistico antico del quartiere del Transtiberim (la XIV Regio augustea), proponendo un quadro d’insieme delle conoscenze e nuove ipotesi ricostruttive. Si intende con ciò contribuire alla restituzione dell’immagine topografica complessiva di un quartiere forse poco “monumentale” ma certo, da sempre, vitale e mutevole e, ad un tempo, caratterizzato da forti persistenze dell’antico nel tessuto viario ed edilizio attuali.
