Experiments were carried out to test viability and meiotic competence of immature and mature cat oocytes vitrified by the MEMT with cryotops using two different methods: A) incubation with 10% EG+10% DMSO (30sec.); 20% EG+ 20%DMSO+ 0.25M sucrose (20 sec.) B) incubation with 7.5 % EG +7.5 % DMSO (3 min.); 15 % EG+ 15 % DMSO+ 0.5M sucrose (1 min.). In Exp.1 immature cat oocyte were vitrified immediately after collection without cumulus cells. After thawing oocytes were matured in vitro for 24 h with additional fresh cumulus cells. The results indicate that system B induced a significantly higher viability and developmental competence to MII compared with system A. In Exp.2, in vitro mature cat oocytes were vitrified with system A and B. Results showed that survival rate of the oocyte was statistically different after vitrification in A (8.7% ) and B (80.5%) systems.
