Abstract – Extreme temperatures in Sardinia during the period 1951-2010. This study analyses some thermometric indexes, chosen among those of the CLIVAR set (Climate Variability and Predictability, CCl, WMO), based on the daily data related to 7 meteorological stations in Sardinia (Italy ) during the period 1951- 2010. The aim is to detect the signs concerning climatic changes on the island, in order to consider appropriate strategies of adaptation. Following the quality control and the data homogenization by RhtestV4, we have calculated different indexes and determined the trends and the statistical signification by using the RclimDex software. The results show a significant increase in the maximum temperatures and in the number of summer and warm days (in relation to the 1961-90 average) in most of the considered stations. The minimum temperatures, the number of tropical and warm nights show an upward trend in the southern stations of the island, a more emphasized trend starting from 1976. On the contrary, the stations situated in the north show downward trends.
